Torture Chamber

To me, these photos are SO inspiring. This is what you'd see if you took Bikram Choudhury's 9 week hot yoga teacher training program. Bikram himself describes it as his torture chamber. He says it's better to work your heart for 90 minutes in a Bikram class then having a heart attack later on in life. His reasoning and philosophies make so much sense. And that's why there are Bikram studios all over the world. Set at 105F (about 40% humidity), a Bikram class works every part of your body, mind and spirit. It also challenges your body, mind at spirit like nothing else. The feeling I get after walking out of class is indescribable. I am completely addicted to the hot room (you'll hear me say this time and time again). The discipline of Bikram's 26 posture workout is one of its kind. Bikram himself has his sequence of poses copyright. Why? "You cannot drive the car if you do not have a driver's license," he explains. "You cannot do brain surgery if you are not a brain surgeon. You cannot even do a massage if you don't have a license." And, he says, you shouldn't be able to teach his Bikram Yoga unless you pay him for a license.  I've often thought about taking his training course to become certified. The 9 weeks spent away from home (this year's training is in Los Angeles), the admission fee ($7,000 USD) plus mandatory hotel fee ($3,000 USA) makes it more difficult of a decision. For now, I practice to be the best yogi I can be.

If you want to learn more about the Bikram practice and are thinking of trying a class, I recommend reading his book. It'll tell you all you need to know before stepping in the hot room.
